Hi, I’m Courteney McLean
A Relationship and Behavior Specialist, Certified Leadership Coach, and seasoned educator with over 25 years of experience supporting families, adolescents, and neurodivergent learners. I hold a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) and a Master of Education (M.Ed.), with a specialization in Learning Disabilities, Mental Health, and Trauma.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked as a:
→ Classroom teacher (Grades 2 through 12)Â
→Program Support TeacherÂ
→Assistant Principal & PrincipalÂ
→Regional Inclusive School Coordinator
I’m also a Certified Leadership Coach (CLC) and am currently completing my ICF Level 1 Coaching Certification to further deepen my work with parents and teens.
I’ve supported hundreds of families navigating autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, learning differences, anxiety, and complex emotional needs, both inside and outside of the school system.
My work is grounded in the belief that all behavior is communication. Whether I’m working with a family navigating a new diagnosis or a school team supporting a struggling student, my goal is the same: to foster connection, emotional regulation, and real, sustainable strategies that create change.
My Approach
I bring a trauma-aware, neurodiversity-affirming lens to every session. Whether we’re working one-on-one, as a family, or in a professional setting, I focus on helping you:
→ Decode what behavior is really trying to tell you
→ Build emotional regulation strategies that work in real life
→ Strengthen communication and connection
→ Shift from feeling reactive to feeling equipped and grounded
I believe that caregivers and educators who feel supported are the most powerful resource in a child’s life. My role is to walk alongside you...offering a calm, compassionate space to grow, reflect, and move forward.Â
What It’s Like to Work With Me
Clients often tell me they leave sessions feeling seen, less alone, and more hopeful. My coaching blends emotional support with practical strategy so you can:
→ Respond to behavior with more confidence and less guilt
→ Create realistic, sustainable routines and boundaries
→ Repair connection when it feels strained or broken
→ Navigate hard transitions with tools (and heart)
I’m not here to judge or hand out cookie-cutter solutions. I’m here to listen, strategize, and walk with you through whatever season you’re in.
A Bit About Me
I was born and raised in Balcarres, Saskatchewan, and spent 23 years living and teaching in Yellowknife, NWT. I’ve worked as a teacher, principal, regional inclusive education leader, and program support specialist—roles that shaped my passion for inclusive, relationship-centered education.
In 2023, I moved back to Saskatchewan and now live in Regina with my teenage son and our two Morkies, Max and Auggie. I’m a proud hockey mom (you’ll usually find me at the rink!), a lover of yoga and pickleball, and someone who’s always planning her next trip or trying a new recipe in the kitchen.
Summers are for slowing down at the family cottage in Katepwa—surrounded by laughter, nature, and the people I love most.
I bring that same energy into my work: rooted, relational, and real.
